Princess Mononoke is about a war between an uprising civilization and the beast gods of the forest. A young warrior named Ashitaka is forced to kill a wild boar(god of forest)to protect his village, unfortunately a part of the boar touches him and he is affected by a curse. The wise woman tells him that soon enough the curse will kill him, and so he goes on to the depths of the forest to find a cure for his curse, He travels for many days. He wants to go to the city where iron is made, because it's the most technologically advanced place in the forest. He hopes to find a cure there. Over there he meets Lady Eboshi who is the head of that village. Ashitaka lives in that village for a few days, and tells Eboshi about what happened to him, and that they found an piece of iron in the boar that attacked Ashitaka's village. She shows him around the place, but doesn't really ever answer his question. While staying there he sees a pack of wolves lead by a girl attacking the village. He sees Princess Mononoke for the first time and finds her beautiful! He finds out that the gods of the forest (wolves, boars) are not happy with this village since they are destroying it with all their technology. Now Ashitaka finds a new meaning to his life, which would now be to bring peace between the two sides of the forest. And that is how the story goes on...
