Romance, action, drama, are few of the qualities that Vision of Escaflowne has. The story revolves around girl named Hitomi. One day while practicing for a race, she bumps into a warrior who comes from no where. And the warrior tells her, "It's coming, the dragon!". Then we see the warrior cut open the dragon in the fight, and take a ruby like stone called an energest. But then, as he is about to return to where he came from, Hitomi is dragged with him into the portal and she ends up in a whole new world, called Gaea. Over here, there aren't only humans, but half human half beast creatures also. We learn that the young warrior is actually Prince Van of Fanelia. When he returns with the energest, the town of Fanelia proclaims him king. His father used to be king, but to prove that he too is worthy of being king, he had to do some tasks. Hitomi is still all confused about the place, but fits in quickly with the people. The plot basically now revolves around Hitomi and Van. They are tons of giant mechs in this anime called guy melefs. Van's guy melef is called Escaflowne. After his inaugration as king, a technologically advance empire called Ziboc, attack Fanelia and destroy all of it. But Hitomi had some feeling that they were going to attack from before. Later on in the series she realized that she has the power to see into people's minds and into the future, and therefore becomes a very big asset to the anime. Since she can help Van and friends build back Fanelia, and take revenge on Ziboc!
